The Insidious Dr. Fu-Manchu (British title: The Mystery of Dr. Fu-Manchu) is the first of fourteen Fu-Manchu books written by Sax Rohmer, pseudonym of Henry Sarsfield Ward. Sir Nayland Smith and Dr. Petrie are the Sherlock Holmes and Watson of the series, with Dr. Petrie narrating the books and aiding Smith in battling the arch-villain Dr. Fu-Manchu.
